Values Protect Against Media’s Unhealthy Messages

The same values that were important to teach children in previous generations are the same values that we should continue to try to teach the current generation of children. In fact, values such as respect, responsibility, compassion, and integrity have probably become even more important to teach with the advent of more corrupting messages in the media and in advertising. Teaching children these values is as easy as letting them know what you expect, and then developing reasonable rewards and punishments for when they do and don’t follow through. They need to understand that their actions have consequences, both good and bad.
