Stress can weaken our cardiovascular system and damage our brain over time, according to some experts. Some tips to combat stress easily – and almost instantly – are welcomed during the holidays. Smile and heat up your hands! Smiling, even when you’re not happy, can cause a change in your mood. Hot hands send your mind the signal that your body is all right and can reduce the feelings of stress. Eating chocolate, a burger, some whole grains, or indulging in a latte with whole milk are all ways to reduce stress by supplying carbohydrates, flavonoids, fat, caffeine, or iron. Be charitable, plant something, or exercise to make yourself feel better.
