To Parents, Youth Sports an ‘Athletic Arms Race’

Parents can push their children to fairly extreme levels when it comes to sports. Constant practice, games, and tournaments take over some kids’ entire lives. The parents are doing this to try to force their children stand out from the crowd, thinking that they will be left behind if they aren’t the best at something. Trying to secure their children a spot on their high school’s sports teams starts at a very young age with little league sports. Oftentimes, parents will feel as though they have failed their children if they can’t afford to let them play in some of these youth leagues.
