The areas of psychology that can relate to sports are more numerous than one might think. Sports psychology is a relatively young field, but it is proving to have a lot of potential. For example, simply learning more about how to play a sport greatly improves the enjoyment of the sport as a whole. Motivation, or figuring out how people can stay motivated, is also a big part of what sports psychologists hope to achieve. Finding training regimens that are specifically tailored to an individual’s quirks improves athletic success for more would-be athletes.
