The ever-expanding field of sports psychology continues to develop highly-credentialed professionals. Dr. Brent Walker, recently hired by Columbia University, has worked with the U.S. Paralympic soccer team and has taught collegiate level classes. Walker understands the different dynamics of each sport, and adjusts his approaches to teaching sports psychology accordingly. For instance, sports such as fencing and tennis require a more individualized approach, where soccer and football are more team-oriented. Of course, as with all sports psychologists, Walker understands that none of the techniques matter if physical performance isn’t up to par. The techniques are utilized to add a competitive edge.
