Children acquire many beliefs from advertising and pop culture that they integrate into their lives, for better or for worse. Things such as the “success at any cost” attitude that kids learn from various media lead to children believing that they are worthless if they aren’t highly successful in all aspects of their lives. “The ends justifying the means” is another attitude taught by society. This attitude is especially dangerous because things like scholastic dishonesty not only become seen as tolerable, but in fact expected in order to succeed. One of the only ways to deal with these messages is to limit exposure to them.
