Is There a Happiness Formula?

“Positive Psychology” details the prospect that true happiness does not just come from pleasurable activity alone. It is theorized that happiness only truly develops when one is also experiencing a sense of engagement, or active interaction, as well as feeling that what they are doing has meaning, or simply believing in what they are doing. This of course is not a hard and fast rule; for example, if one becomes too engaged then they can end up being less happy due to “burning out.” Practitioners of positive psychology assert that their theory is not a miracle cure for unhappiness, but rather a guideline to keep in mind.
