A documentary called “Head Games” looks at a side of sports that is often overlooked, or even flat out ignored by the fans and organizations, such as the NFL: the permanent, negative effects on the health of the players. The organizations claim that the players understand the risks of their respective sports when they agree to play them and by playing anyway, absolve all potential blame. Many players in high impact sports like hockey, football, and lacrosse suffer from concussions and lasting dementia due to repeated blows to the head. This severely impacts the quality of life for the players and their families.
