Belief in Control of One’s Destiny Tied to Healthier Lifestyle

A new Australian study has shown that believing you have a level of control over your destiny is connected to having a greater quality of life. The diets, exercise habits, and personalities of more than 7,000 people were compared by the research team. People who believed in fate or luck, as opposed to the ability to change their destinies, were found more prone to smoking, overeating, and other bad habits. The study also revealed a difference in what a healthy lifestyle means between the genders. Men want to see physical improvement from the healthy choices, where women cite the enjoyment they would feel from being healthy.
