When working in a group, or on a team, it has been shown to be more effective to keep a group mentality in mind. Thoughts and ideas such as “we will perform well” as opposed to “I will” emphasize the team’s ability, not the specific individuals involved. By doing this you can utilize strengths other than your own, and therefore get a lot more accomplished. Positive self talk about the group as a whole will also lead to significantly improved performance. It is noteworthy to mention that positive self talk does not supersede hard work and practice, however.
